The Decodable Library contains 180 entertaining, fully decodable titles, both fiction and non-fiction. The program features digital texts with voice over, plus digital activities that allow students to practice their developing phonics skills at sound and word level.
Using the Sunshine Online Decodable Library for your students as home reading is easy. You can assign individual titles, ‘sets’ of titles, or you can allow students simply to work their way through the program systematically.
If you wish to assign books, you can use our scope and sequence to determine which books best suit your students’ reading abilities or you can use our free Screening Tests to place students within the program.
The book and associated activities are now available when the student logs in at home.
You can download this letterto give parents and caregivers information about the program. There is a space on it to fill in their log in details too.
What parents and caregivers need to know
Children log in to the Sunshine Online Decodable Library
Books assigned by their teacher are waiting for them to read
Children do a Listen and Say activity first, where they practise the sounds they have been learning and blending those sounds to make words
Children then read the book they have been assigned
Children can listen to the text being read, with voiceover support if required, or they can read it independently
Children record themselves reading the text, review it, and re-record it if they wish
